陳雪花 TAN, Wendy
Wendy Tan was born in Malaysia. She is passionate in art since young, which has never stopped her from developing herself in that direction. She later lived in Hong Kong for over a decade, where she called it home. Currently, she is living and working in the United States, where she settles as her second home. She holds a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration(Upper Merit), and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Distinction in painting, RMIT University, Australia. Wendy has been influenced greatly by nature, as she grew up in a countryside environment, this impacts her mind and thoughts in many aspects about the beauty and mystery of nature. In particular, she loves flowers and plants -- especially those tiny wild flowers. She is intrigued by their dry and curly petals and leafs. Although they are tiny, they may have their unique values that are yet attractive. They can still create beautiful lines, texture, shapes, and forms; however, we can't see them well if we do not pay attention to them. If we magnify them, their insignificant value may then "attract" our attention. Wendy uses tiny wild flowers as her core subject and applies her ideas and thoughts in her works. Her works reflect the insignificance beauty of the city, with the neglected little flowers as the theme. Wendy's work has received several awards, from Yosemite Renaissance 34, Yosemite Museum Gallery, Yosemite, CA. (The "Best of Show" Cash award), 44th, 47th, 48th and 49th (Cash/Merit award) Annual Smoky Hill Art Exhibition by Hays Arts Council, Hays Kansas, United States and Art of Swiss Beauty Award by SUISSE Programme (SaSa International) Hong Kong. She has participated many group exhibitions and solo exhibitions in Hong Kong and the United States. Many of her paintings and ceramic works collected by private collectors from Hong Kong, Singapore, England, Germany and the United States and several commissions work in Hong Kong.
