Open Call - FAQ
1.Who is eligible to join the Collectible Art Fair (CAF)?
All graduates from the Hong Kong Art School (HKAS) are welcome to join. HKAS graduates mean those who have completed one of the following programmes: HDAMA / BAAMA / DFA / HDFA / BAFA / MFA / PDFA
2.How about those who are still studying at the HKAS?
All those who are studying the HKAS programmes mentioned above are also eligible to join.
3.Do I need to be a registered member of the HKAS Alumni Network to be eligible to join?
No.
4.Will there be non-HKAS graduates participating in the exhibition?
Yes, we will invite other artists who have close working relationship with the Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) and HKAS to join.
5.Am I eligible for the CAF if I live overseas?
Yes. You are eligible even if you live overseas but you have to make your own mailing and logistics arrangements for your artworks.
6.What should I do if I am interested in joining the CAF?
Please complete the application form and return it to us (hkasalumninetwork@gmail.com) on or before 31.5.2023.
7.Do I need to give the details of my works when submitting the application?
No. You only need to tell us how many works you will submit for the event. We will send you an artwork submission form in June 2023 for you to fill in details about your artworks.
8.How many works may I submit for the CAF?
You may submit a maximum of two works.
9.Do I have to enter a new work?
It is not mandatory. We encourage you to submit works which could best show your concepts and techniques.
10.Do you accept video works?
There may be technical restrictions for showing video works. Please contact us if you want to show a video work.
11.Is there a size limit?
Each work should not exceed 1m x 1m x 1m. Please contact us if your work is of special dimensions.
12.Do I need to send you photos of my works when I submit the artwork submission form? What about if my works have not yet finished at that time?
Yes. You will be required to send us an image of each submitted work when you return the artwork submission form. If any of your works has not yet finished at that time, you may send us images which could show us its expected form or concept, e.g. a sketch, photos of its making.
13. May I submit copies of a work which exists in other medium?
No, we do not accept copies.
14.Am I allowed to change the work submitted for the CAF after returning the artwork submission form?
No.
15.Will my works be judged or awarded for the CAF?
No, we do not judge any works or give any awards for this event. However, we have a selection panel who have the discretion to accept or decline any works submitted and their decision is final.
16.Will I receive any notifications about my participation in the CAF?
Yes, we will send you a notification around late August 2023 confirming your participation.
17.May I specify the preferred location and method of displaying my works?
Our curatorial team will decide how and where the artworks will be displayed in the exhibition.
18.Do I need to deliver the works to the HKAC by myself?
Yes, you will be required to deliver the works to the HKAC on specified days (10 am-8 pm on 16.10.2023 and 10 am-1 pm 17.10.2023). The works will be unpacked and their conditions will be checked on site. They should be in a good condition ready to withstand normal rigours of handling and display during the exhibition.
19.What if I change my mind and send another work for the exhibition?
The works you delivered to HKAC for the exhibition must be consistent with the details you provided in the artwork submission form.
20.What should I do if I miss the delivery dates?
Works which arrive at the HKAC after the specified dates will not be shown in the exhibition.
21.Do I need to collect the works in person after the exhibition if they are unsold?
Yes, you will need to come and collect the works on specified days (10 am-8 pm on 18.11.2023 and 10 am-3 pm on 19.11.2023) and sign an acknowledgment receipt. Please bring your packing materials when collecting the works.
22.May I ask someone else to deliver my works to the HKAC and/or collect them after the exhibition?
Yes. You may ask someone else to deliver/collect your works but the person(s) authorised will have to give us an authorisation letter signed by you. The letter should bear your full name, title of the works concerned and the name and contact telephone number of the person(s) authorised by you.
23.May I know who is the buyer of my work?
We will need the buyer’s consent to disclose his/her identity.
