鄭禮仁 CHENG, Ryan
A purist who enjoys working in the medium of clay and on the potter's wheel, I create functional and sculptural objects that reflect the essence of these things. My practice is an exploration of material, process and form. Simplifying things down to their fundamentals, I make pieces that convey a sense of clarity in an increasingly ambiguous world.

Organised by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. 'Claylaboration - Contemporary Ceramic
Art Exhibition" is distinguished for its exploration of the possibilities of cross-disciplinary collaborations in ceramic art. Ceramics is an art form with its own distinctive characteristics and traditions. This exhibition invites various generations of Hong Kong ceramic artists re-examine customs and innovations of ceramic art through collaborating with creative talents from a variety of fields. It could be a challenging task to the ceramic artists, many of whom are accustomed to solitary pursuits. It also imposes challenges to their creative partners.
This exhibition brings ceramic artists and creative talents from fashion design, stage design, photography, printmaking, creative writing and even Buddhism together. Through the exchange of ideas, experiences and techniques, the crossover infuses new elements to ceramic art. To reveal the collaborative process to the public in a more engaging way, media artist, Elaine Wong, is invited to present their “claylaboration” through a video installation.
