張煒詩分別於2001 年獲「香港藝術雙年展獎」及2002 年獲香港「藝遊鄰里計劃II」藝術家獎;2016 獲邀參加法國瓦洛里當代陶藝雙年展,及日本瀨戶內國際藝術祭「Fukutake House Project」。其作品為香港藝術館、文化博物館及臺灣鶯歌陶瓷博物館收藏。

荔枝窩,位於僻遠的沙頭角,山脈連綿,海灣寬闊,耕地肥沃,大自然彼此滋養。如此幽靜質樸,喚醒了人們最純粹的感覺。四位藝術家李彥錚(Dexter)、區灝藍(Suzanne)、姚俊樺(馬騮)、張煒詩(Rachel)就以陶藝為媒介,呈現被城巿遺忘的自然美學。
Two decades into her art career, Hong Kong artist Rachel Cheung Wai-sze has been shortlisted for the 2020 Sovereign Asian Art Prize. We spoke to her about how she explores philosophical ideas through her contemporary ceramic works.
The research was carried out by Rachel Cheung, Lecturer / Programme Coordinator (Project), with two alumni – Winus Lee, Ida Yu and a current student – Suzanne Au. The team were proceeding a study with the alumni who studied the Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) programme jointly presented by HKAS and RMIT University, Australia, with ceramics as major.

「由實用到抽象」是「張煒詩陶瓷作品展」所用的展覽主題,展覽展出了一組作品,作品沒有獨立標題,據張氏的說明,展覽是以主題式作為基礎,即展覽只有一件作品,圍繞該主題發展,作品一共由十三件陶瓷作品的個體所組成,分別放置成兩組,兩組位置是有觀看次序,是展示一個過程,就如標題所說明一樣,由實用的托盤,展示出如何一步一步的走向抽象的形態,只是純粹的形態。張氏把一個演化的過程放到觀眾的眼前(本文所指的作品是其展覽活動Part 1中的作品),但筆者所關心的事項,並不是現象所見到的作品組群,而是透過作品組群的背後的思想運動,觀看其創造性是如何擴張,她擴張的創造性是內在的運動,同時亦是藝術的追求。

(2016年2月)甫踏進一塵不染的Unit Gallery(L5-23單位),緊閉的眉頭不自覺地開了鎖,呼吸愈趨淡泊而沉穩、瑣碎日常愈見瑣碎然後歸於無……人頓感遠離塵囂,彷彿回到原初。採用「白盒子空間」(white cube)設計,它以乾脆利落的白塑造出一個全然中立的空間,讓藝術作品超脫時空,自成一角。憑藉這種神聖、具美感且不偏不倚的特質,白盒子得以成為當代藝術展示空間的典範。
既是藝術家、身兼藝術教育工作的畫廊負責人張煒詩 Rachel,坦言當初只是偶而獲批租用這地方,於是考慮利用這個空間展示自己的作品;後來,Rachel 與另一藝術家 Fanny 更把工作室遷到這裡。慢慢發展下,這裡漸成為了 Rachel的根基延伸 – 開放的空間讓她接觸更多不同的人和事,她笑說會留意很多很細微、無聊的東西 – 例如觀眾的舉動、微細的動作、對展品的態度等;從那些微妙的互動和與觀眾的溝通,引發對人與人之間相處的聯想,這些都與她創作有關。
