On merging different elements and the challenges

J:
[We had] a lot of discussion on how we could fuse [his existing works] to the ideas I had but still be loyal to his. He has been super understanding and supportive while holding onto his principles, which I respect and am thankful for.

M:
The biggest challenge would be the uncertainty during a live performance. Visual outcomes and audience responses can only be known when the piece is performed. This is different from my previous works. For now, I can only manage expectations and prepare.

Jonathan Spigner, Choreographer

“The best thing about this collaboration has been sharing and talking of ideas and concepts out loud, bouncing ideas off each other and picking apart what is good or bad about an idea. No resentment, no judgement, just searching for truth.” Jonathan Spigner

M:
Most of my previous works began from my own perspective. Through these works, I shared my insights with viewers. After this collaboration, I found interacting with others to be fun and interesting. New things generated from bouncing ideas off each other cannot be done by oneself. This more or less changes my creative perspective and probably will be reflected in my subsequent works.
