Lumenvisum is proud to present Carol Lee Mei Kuen’s solo exhibition “Monologue of Time”, which showcases Lee’s latest art creation. She has kept trying to employ time as both the material and means of her art making. The changes in light and its reaction with paper become her concerning art creation media in recent year.
Photography, produce image by collecting the change in light, is the interaction of light and time. Based on the records in “The Pencil of Nature” and the origin and history of photography, Lee has made time and space two-dimensional and visible. “From invisible transform into visible”, this idea become part of the art creation, presenting the relationship between time, history and memories in diverse form. Lee’s works are full of non-material and non-specific uncertainties, It is the process and the result of the record about how time is being captured by light and shadow. In between, Lee tries to explore the meaning and the existence of light, time, space and object. In her works, time flows, settles, accumulates, stays, stacks up, interacts and evolves. Time is the works themselves. She names the way she develops her works “time drawing”.
In this exhibition, Lee makes use of “time drawing”, to transform image by time. ingeniously, Lee creates visible image from invisible concept, attempting to understand and interpret the subtle relationship between “time drawing” and photography.
