A tael (一両) is around 38 grams. What would you make if you were given one tael of porcelain? What form would it take? What memories would it evoke? Get hands-on in this interactive & collaborative art-making session, with artist Karen Wong.
In this latest piece by Karen, entitled "Every memory is worth a thousand taels in gold" -- the artist uses clay as a communication tool and as a material to engage social response. A project that she started during her recent residency at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the piece is an artistic dialogue betweem makers in London and Hong Kong.
The afternoon will commence with a presentation by Karen -- sharing how she became a ceramic artists, an overview of her methods & themes, and her experiences at the RA in London that inspired this work in the first place. Then, each audience member will be given a tael of porcelain to start their creative contribution.
Join us for an afternoon of sharing, making and inspiration!
